For Attorneys
Order Financial Discovery in Minutes
Sign up with your bar license, order an investigation, and let the account holder authorize access at their own institution — no subpoena, no custodian queue, no shared credentials. You pay once, up front, and see the retrieved records in your own portal as soon as access is granted.
How onboarding works
No password, no manual identity check by a person — your bar license is the credential that gets you in, and your passkey (a private key generated and held by your own device) is what proves it's you every time you sign back in.
Onboarding
Enter your name and bar licenses
That's it — your name, and the state and bar number for every jurisdiction you're admitted in. No email, phone, or firm name to type.
Onboarding
We check every bar number
Each license is verified against official bar records. Every one you list has to check out as active, and all of them have to belong to the same attorney — we don't let mismatched or inactive numbers through.
Onboarding
We pull your contact details
Once your licenses check out, we pull your email, phone, and firm straight from your bar record and send a one-time verification link to the email on file — nothing you typed in yourself.
Onboarding
Register a passkey
Click the link, then register a passkey on your device — that's your only credential from then on. There is no password to set, remember, or leak.

You're in
You land in your attorney portal, ready to order your first investigation.
Pricing
There's no subscription and no monthly minimum. Every investigation is priced and paid for individually, up front, before anything is requested of the invitee.
- Priced by scope. Cost is the number of accounts requested times the number of months in the date range.
- One price, shown before you pay. When you create an investigation, you get an exact quote up front. Nothing is charged, and no invitation goes out, until you approve and pay.
- No results, no charge for retrieval you didn't authorize. If the invitee never grants access, you're not billed anything further beyond the initial payment for the request itself — there's no metered or recurring cost tied to how long the case runs.
From signup to reviewing results
The same request moves through both portals — yours and the invitee's — without either side ever seeing the other's credentials.
- 1
Create an investigation
Enter the invitee’s email and name, choose the Plaid products you need (transactions, statements, or both), and set a date range of up to 24 months back.
- 2
Get a quote and pay
You see the exact total — the number of accounts times the number of months you're requesting — before you pay. Nothing is sent to the invitee until payment clears.
- 3
The invitee is notified
We email the invitee a single-use link explaining who requested access, for what products, and over what date range.
- 4
The invitee authorizes access
The invitee registers their own passkey, then authorizes access at each institution through that institution’s own login. You never see their credentials, and they can revoke access at any time.
- 5
Track progress in real time
Your portal shows each investigation’s status as it moves: invited, logged in, institutions granted.
- 6
Review the results
Once access is granted, retrieved accounts, balances, statements, and transactions appear directly in your portal. Sync at any time to pull the latest data.
See how the mechanism holds up in court
Why API access beats PDF statements and a model brief for the court cover the parts of this a judge will ask about.
